Upgrade your Operating System

   Just as a computer uses the operating system to control all of the applications and hardware that it uses, so we too have a method by which we live. It is what we use to determine right from wrong, good from bad. The only problem is that our operating system has degraded with time, it has become corrupt. It is not stable enough to truly govern the way we live. History tells us this plainly. One example would be prayer. At one time every school started its day with prayer and it was thought of as a good thing. We said the pledge of allegiance and made the statement one nation under God.

 Now that is not the case. Prayer was taken out of schools and many have tried to take under God out of the pledge. Now many say that both of these are evil. That is until all the violence began in our schools, then every one wanted to know how God could allow this? The answer is simple, He allowed it because we allowed it. We told God He was not welcome in our schools and one thing you need to know about God is that He has given us a free will to choose. He will not violate our choices.

 Below we see His desire and intentions for us.

 John 10:9-11

9          "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

10        "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

11        "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. (NKJ)

  Jesus came to give us life and the life that He offers is eternal life. A life that is so immeasurable and great it can only be described one way, eternal.

 Jesus plainly tells us He is the way, the truth and the life. We will only be satisfied and free when we know the truth. The truth is a person, Jesus Christ.

 John 14:6

6          Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

   He goes on to explain to a religious man how to have this eternal life. You do not get it by being religious.

 You only receive it by entering into a relationship with God.

 John 3:3-7

3          Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

4          Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"

5          Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

6          "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7          "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' (NKJ)

  The same way you entered into your earthly family, by birth. Is the way you enter into God’s family, by spiritual birth. The new birth that Jesus is talking about here is a spiritual birth.

 This birth only happens one way. By turning to Jesus as your Savior and asking Him to come into your life and forgive your sin.

  Eph 2:1-9

1          And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

2          in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

3          among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

4          But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5          even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6          and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7          that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

8          For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

9          not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJ)

  God has made available to you a new life because of what Jesus did for you. He offers this life as a free gift, not by religious works. By faith believing in your heart that what He did because of His love for you is real and then accepting it by asking Jesus into your life.

 The words you say are not as important as simply taking a step of faith and calling out to Him.
